Thinking Outside The Box

How often do we run on autopilot – doing the same thing, the same way? What if we were to stop for a moment and think outside the box? I think we would discover endless possibilities.

Inventors think outside the box. It’s not that difficult once you train yourself to stop and think of other possibilities. Look at Dr. Seuss. Who would have thought that a book about green eggs and ham would become a best seller?

We’re often too quick to discount something that’s just a little different – but what if we were a little more open to thinking outside the box?

How could you do relationships outside the box? Maybe you could surprise your special someone or do something out of the ordinary for your kids, friend, or co-worker.

What more could you contribute at work by thinking outside the box? How would that change your life? Why not give it a try! You’ve got nothing to lose and maybe, just maybe, some adventure to gain.

Don’t Let The Sun Go Down!

We are instructed to not let the sun go down on our anger. Easier said than done! Unfortunately many people have let many suns go down on their anger.

The longer we hang onto anger – the worse it gets. It burrows deep inside our hearts where it begins its cancerous work of mutating and multiplying in an aggressive endeavor to take over. “Stop the insanity!” as Susan Powter would say. At this point, radical action needs to be taken.

Learn to fully acknowledge your anger and properly deal with it so that it doesn’t take over your mind and heart. Don’t let anger destroy your life.

You may not be able to fully deal with your anger before the sun goes down but you certainly can start the process. Don’t let the words and actions of others ruin your life. Free yourself from the opinions of others. Push the eject button on those negative movies that play over and over in your mind.

Once you begin the process of regularly dealing with your anger, you will be free to enjoy life more and you will certainly enjoy the sunsets in a whole new way!

It’s Winter!

Winter can look so pretty but if you’re like me, you don’t like the cold, bundling up, shoveling, and clearing off the car. I love to stay indoors where it’s warm and cozy!

We can experience a season of winter in our lives when our hearts and emotions are iced up and sometimes feel dead – unlike the new life of spring where everything seems fresh and new. During these times of emotional winter, it’s easy to pull away from others and hide our emotions.

Can you relate? Perhaps you know someone who has been avoiding you. We are all busy but sometimes people pull away from us because it’s easier to be alone than it is to be around others. That’s when they need us the most!

Everyone deals differently with problems, losses, and disappointments. This season can be very painful for many people. Family problems, loss, financial strain, illness, and other problems can all factor into feeling isolated and alone.

If you see someone pulling away, ask God how you can touch them. It may be sending a card, phoning them, dropping over for coffee, taking them out for lunch, or numerous other ways of showing you care. Don’t ignore them. Reach out with the love of God and help them heal. After all, you never know when you’ll be in a season of winter. Everyone needs to be touched by the love of God.
