Which Way Do I Go?

Do you ever come to a dead-end and wonder which way to go? Should you go to the right or should you go to the left? Some of life’s circumstances present choices that are very easy to make. Other situations are more complex and require choices that can be very difficult to make – especially when other factors hinge on those choices.

There may be pros and cons to each direction. Which way to choose? Don’t stress! God knows the best way to go! He has a plan and if you will follow His plan you can expect the best results. Sound simple? It is. Obedience is a simple choice. Having said that, the emotions that arise may cause an inner tug-of-war.

I have often found – in my life – that following God’s choice doesn’t always make logical sense, yet deep down in my gut I know what I need to do. Often, a gut reaction is a spiritual nudging of the Lord. Think about different scenarios in the Bible. God spoke to Abraham (who was then Abram) to leave his country and his family. He didn’t know where God was going to take him yet he knew that he needed to follow God’s leading.

I’m sure it didn’t seem logical when the Israelites were instructed to march around Jericho in silence – once a day for six days! They would be in plain sight for their enemies to see. How strange that must have seemed to both the Israelites and their foes! Then, on the seventh day, instead of attacking, they were instructed to shout. Another seemingly bizarre order. Yet, the outcome was exactly what God wanted. No other course of action would have produced the same result.

God knows what He’s doing and He knows the best choices we need to make. Ask Him what He wants you to do. Trust Him in the direction He wants to lead you.

Hmm. . . Things Are Piling Up!

Sometimes problems pile up so high we don’t know what to do. Some problems catch us off guard, some we ignore until the pile grows so high it’s out of control, and other times it seems like we have been hit with a storm of various problems that may overwhelm us.

No matter what life throws our way, we can know with certainty that God is never caught off guard and that He always has a solution to any problem we may face.

Ignoring a problem may give us temporary relief but it doesn’t cause the problem to go away. Ignoring the problem is a sign that we need to go to God for a solution. God holds the solution and the peace and empowerment we need to deal with the problem – or problems.

Thinking things through and reflecting on your options are good to do but don’t limit yourself to those options. Don’t neglect seeking God for the best way to deal with things. Best is better than good. Allow Him to lead you in the best way. Let Him show you His plan.

Our well-intentioned plans are often equivalent to taking a baby shovel to a mountain of snow when God may have a giant bulldozer for us to use. On the other hand, maybe we have a bulldozer we are using but God has a different plan. Just know that God’s plan is ALWAYS the best plan!

Lethal Weapon

I wouldn’t want one of these mammoth icicles to fall on my head – or worse, pierce through my heart! There is one thing that can pierce through our heart that isn’t a lethal weapon. It’s God’s Word. His Word cuts right to the centre of our heart to separate truth from the barrage of lies, justification, deception, and wrong motives, that hold us back in life.

Allowing God’s Word into our heart is one of the best things we can do. God transforms our lives through His Word. He heals us, removes all cancerous sin, and empowers us with faith, courage, and love.

God’s Word is a two-edged sword. One side is used to gently restore our heart while the other side is used as a weapon against the enemy.

Wielding the Word of God at the enemy is the greatest weapon God has given us. The enemy cowers at the Sword of the Spirit. To him, it is The Lethal Weapon!

Try it out. Pick up your Sword and push back the attacks of the enemy!
